Meeting upon a Hill in Dreams
for Mr. Sedam, poet and benefactor
By chance in dreams we meet upon a hill
Poetry eludes us, but still we speak
Fake-progressive hearts have continued to bleed at will
You would align academically but unwilling, still
To fall for the claptrap rendering reason weak
By chance in dreams we meet upon a hill
You see your children threatened by the shrill
And vile tongues quelling freedom rough and bleak
Fake-progressive hearts have continued to bleed at will
You planed over the Pacific stressed by death’s chill
Saw fellow soldiers fall no future to seek
By chance in dreams we meet upon a hill
You know bureaucrats cannot bend fate or still
The promise that tomorrow’s minds may wreak
Fake-progressive hearts have continued to bleed at will
Free souls must choose and let life its course fulfill
God’s own image in humankind we do seek
By chance in dreams we meet upon a hill
Fake-progressive hearts have continued to bleed at will
