Waltzing with Shadows
Crimson leaves crunch beneath
Bare toes as she threads
Through autumn’s embrace
Spinning in glimmering sunbeams.
Visions of dark starlight spread
Gleaming over the fresh paint
Of sacred dawn. Azure fires
Streak patches of emerald moss.
Mist over the waters rises
Bringing noon’s bright visage–
A trail of dusty signals
Damp life, panting and parting.
Each pluck of melody’s string
Spews seeds for future poppies
To settle in quiet twilight, waltzing
With shadows, ancient and alone.
